If someone uses food as a way of escaping painful thoughts and feelings the cravings are intense. I used to overeat till I hurt and wished I could purge. Medication doesn't stop that drive. It can help with general overall consumption but it can be overruled. If we're used to mindlessly snacking in certain situations , the habit can be very powerful.
